  • Borderline date for medicals

Hey guys, I've been wondering about this for a bit. I had my medicals done for my application signed by the civil surgeon on 10/31/2016, and my priority date is 12/21/2016. My interview has been scheduled for 12/5/2017. As I've been reading in the USCIS website, Form I-693 (the medical examination report as completed and signed by the civil surgeon) is valid for up to a year after it is filed with USCIS. This wording leads me to believe that, at the time of my interview, my medicals will still be valid because the documentation was submitted to USCIS on 12/21. Is my interpretation correct, or are my medicals not valid at this point (because the actual examination and report signature will be more than one year old at the time of interview) and need to go get them done again prior to the interview?

    Thanks much for your input!

I believe USCIS goes off of the date the medical exam was performed which means you have to re-do it. Or for certainty, I would call USCIS or maybe the physician will know.

Unless you expect to fail a medical exam, this is not an issue worth stressing about

It is one year since it was done. So it will be expired. You are better off getting a new one done before interview than waiting for them to tell you to redo it and possibly delay the process.

I also carefully read the wording on the USCIS website: it clearly states that it is valid up "to one year from the date of submission to USCIS" which seems to indicate that you're fine.
