  • I-693 Mailed After I-485 - Issue?

    Hello,

    First post here.

Had a question/concern. We filed the I-130/I-485/I-765/I-131 together but did not include the I-693 Medical Exam package along with the 485. A few weeks later we got the exam and submitted the 693 to USCIS. Two days after that we received a letter in the mail saying that the 693 was not received and to not send it in unless requested and to bring it to the interview.

It's been over a month and we haven't received the 693 package back. I called to speak with Level 2 and they don't have record of receiving it even though I have the postal receipt showing it was accepted at the office.

Has anyone had this issue before? Do we need to wait to see when the interview is and then go back to the doctor for them to fill out a new form?

Bonus question: I assume this doesn't affect the I-765 process? I would hate for the EAD to be delayed.

    Thanks for any advice!

If you received a letter regarding the unreceived I-693, the letter was a "Request for Evidence, RFE, and must be responded to directly with the letter on top. When you sent the I-693 without being asked, you were wasting postage, and that packet may end up lost. My advice is to get the same doctor to give you a duplicate, original, package, and send it to USCIS with the RFE letter included.

Failure to respond to an RFE request could result in denial of your package and loss of the $1,225 submittal fee.

Thank you Ray. The letter I received was a "Notice to Applicant" and said if I receive an interview notice then to bring the package then and submitting it now might delay the case. Unfortunately we had already sent it. Mainly I hope it doesn't affect the 485 and 765 EAD process. It will suck going to get and possibly pay for the doctor to give us another completed form. Just hope it doesn't delay anything.
