  • Address change - important!

    Hello!

This is something I came across during my aos application. Making an address change.

    Basic back ground:
    Application sent early August
    P/D August 8, 2017
Contacted my lawyer's office to make an address change Aug 10
    Biometrics Sept 6
    SR for EAD October 24
Email notification the EAD was approved Oct 31
Email notification the EAD card was mailed Nov 3
Mailed NOA of EAD approval to OLD address.

Thankfully, my old address is to the house my husband owns, we moved to an apartment closer to his new job which was an hour and a half away. So i thankfully got the NOAs. Unfortunately, we aren't always at the house, and that is where my EAD card is being sent. When i called the USCIS customer service line, they put me through to a level 2 agent to get a tracking number for me. When i asked why the NOA came to my old address the explanation was super simple, but probably something multiple people run into.

Your applications may have been sent concurrentlly, but they are NOT attached! Changing the address for one receipt number will NOT change them for all of them.

I onviously think that my lawyers office should know that, but they are only human after all.

Save yourself the trouble. When you make an address change, make sure you change it for ALL you applications, filed concurrently or not.

Hmmmm what a nice update from you because many people would have been fall into such situation. But how do you think someone gonna change his address for all those concurrent submitted application since you have everything together online in a profile. I don't know if you actually get what am saying.

If you mean, that submitting your address change online through your profile should do it all at once because its all together, i am not sure. I would think if its through your online profile it might be easier, but i didnt change it there.

If you mean, how does someone make sure that everything gets changed, you would have to have all your receipt numbers available to you. You can change your address online and by phone. Online there is space to add all the receipt numbers, and over the phone, they should ask for all of them, but its also possible to not realize you need all of them.

I know that after the address change, you can call jnto the customer service line and verify that the address change has been made. That is probably your best bet to make sure everything is accurate.

If i didnt answer your question, let me know.

I went online a few weeks ago and filled in the change of address form and entered all 4 forms I'm concurrently filing. (485,130,131,765) and yet on my online profile only the 485 and 130 had shown records of a change of address in my case history. So i just called up and he confirmed that there was no change of address filed for the 131 and 765 despite placing all 4 in the change of address form. He said he has seen in his time sometimes that form doesn't work lol. Anyway was simple enough to change the address for them 2 on the phone with him otherwise my EAD would've been headed to the old address also.

          Update

So I really dont know what is going on with USCIS. They sent me NOAs to my old address, but they sent my EAD card to my lawyers office...?!?!?

Which is just turning into a needlessly extensive delay of receiving my EAD because USPS had to delay delivery, which may or may not have to do with my lawyers office changing location. It looks like it's actually going back to USCIS. And USPS is closed because of the holiday. FML....
Do they only try one delivery attempt?
