  • Just received EAD/AP what next? How does AP work?

So i filled out my paperwork in early August of 2017 and i had just received my EAD the other day.

Can anyone share some timeline experienced how long after EAD they received their interview notification?

Additionally i was also granted AP so that would mean my i 131 and i 767 were both approved. Thats a good sign but i know i still got ways to go

In terms od AP, would I require any further documentation to leave the country? I would love to see my home land since i havent been there in quite a few years? Is it frowned upon if i travel by IO's? How do they view applicants leaving with their EADs? Is it only for school/humanitarian purposes.

    Any help is appreciated.

Got EAD at beginning of august still no interview notification. Depends on local office and is case by case. AP is granted so you use it to travel without abandoning your AOS. You can go home no problem.

You can travel with your EAD/AP card. However, pay attention if you were not in unlawful presence. In this case, even with pending AOS, the AP can be denied. If you were by the book, you can travel. If just called my attention as you mentioned you were not in your home country in quite a few years...every single person with legal status can easily go and return...

What do you mean unlawful presence? I currently have Daca and im in the process of adjusting status where my wife is my sponsor. My Ead/AP just cane in,, so i assume even if i had no daca I have a "pending" status.

I have never heard a case of AP being denied for this reason. Plus the OP already has AP granted.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Thats the very reason, why i didnt even apply for advance parole....im out of status, just praying ill get my green card...after reading the instructions for advance parole, they do say " even with advance parole and AOS pending, they might deby you to re entry..its totally to a discretion of the immigration officer. Which scared me and i decided to just wait for completeing the entire process to travel..

Never heard of a case where they deny entry though just check the advance parole experience page on this forum.
If you have no criminal record you will definitely have no problems.

Lots of people are out of status when filing for AOS, also there are thousands of daca recipients that used AP to do AOS here.

Well, that sounds promising... of course i have no criminal nothing, but i was/am put of status, somebody wrote, that could be a reason, i too have ill grandparent, should anything happen, maybe i can consider the emergency AP, which i didnt know exist... i do have a lot to lose tho, should they be difficult and not allowed me back, id be traveling with our daughter, who is born here, so thatd be a disaster and my biggest nightmare... hopefully, we wont have to travel before i get my green card..

You can be denied reentry even with a green card. The only people guaranteed entry in the US is USC's. The odds of being denied with AP/GC are very low and are handled on case by case basis.
