I would appreciate if someone would give me some help.
I filed a I-130 in Jan 2003. I did that after I got married to an American Citizen and after I called the INS, explaining my situation and asking them what to file. She woman said that I only needed to file an I-130. So that is what I did.
It got approved in September of 2004. Send in the afidavit etc to the National Visa center.
To my GREAT surprise did I receive a letter in december 2005 saying my visa application was forwarded to the Netherlands!!
After finally getting someone on the phone I found out that I should have filed a I-485!!!!
No one ever told me.
It was impossible for me to go to the sceduled date in the Netherlands in February. We have a tax business so I could not leave. I had to cancel that appointment and now I am extremely stuck on what to do. I went for a medical exam and am currently waiting for them to send me the papers. Then I file a I-485 but what do I put in as to what my case status is right now and when it expires??
As far as I know there is no way of checking your case number with the National Visa Center which is different from the USCIS case number.
Gosh I am getting so depressed... been waiting over 3 years now and when ever I talk to someone from the USCIS I get a different answer.
Oh yes I also wonder if I have to pay the Fee of $325 again for the forms (afidavit etc) I am sending in since I already send in everything except the I-485 in 2005. I got 3 completely different answers from the INS regarding this. It is absolutely driving me nuts! Right now I am afraid a year will expire before they process my I-485 application and then I will have to start all over!
