  • Medical exam for I-485

    Hi All,

My company filed for green card application in May 2017 (L1A Visa based).

I submitted medical exam for I-485 in jun 2017. However, my wife was expecting at that time, so her x-ray could not be done and her medical exam was submitted without x-ray report. But now she can go for x-ray. My question is whether we should wait for RFE to come and then re-submit the medical exam or should we proactively re-take her medical exam and re-submit the report now so that green card application processing is not delayed. please advise.

    Thanks.

I think you should wait before USCIS asks you for it.
I had to do MMR shot prior sending my medical exam form (I thought I need to do medical exam prior sending I-485, but apparently we can even bring this sealed package to the interview). To my surprise, there are supposed to be done 3 shots of MMR. I have done the first one within that medical exam. However, 2nd shot MMR cannot be done earlier then 1 month after the first one. The lady in the doctor's office, who is corresponding with USCIS and making sealed medical package, said that we shoul not take initiative and do a 2nd shot ourselves, but should wait when USCIS will ask us for it. She said that USCIS will send us a letter requesting to provide them with the proof of having the 2nd shot MMR done.
I feel like your situation is similar, but who knows. Best luck.

        Hi!

No need to worry, nothing has changed.
I did my medical exam in June of this year and also didn't need to have an x-ray done.
The only time there is reason for an x-ray is when your TB test came back positive.
two years for an interview isn't normal tho, but definitely not because of your medical.
