  • I-130 Approval Notice

Today I received, or rather my husband received, the I-130 Approval Notice. The date of notice is 11/9 which is one day after the interview. Something tells me that the IO who told us that we need the extended birth certificate may have been wrong or she was right but then she had another IO take a look at our case and he/she approved it. Still waiting on the case status update from new card was mailed.

To all of you who are still waiting, stay strong. I know my words do not help but I wish upon you the best and fastest process. I do not understand why people whose PDs go back to January or even before, have not gotten their GC or even their interviews.

I hope you all get some sort of update soon.
    Forms sent 6/2
    Forms received 6/4
    Received texts/e-mails 6/6
    PD 6/5 & 6/6
NOA between 6/8 and 6/12 (I was out of town)
Biometrics letter in mail 6/17 w/ 6/28 date
    SR 9/2
    Contacted Congressman 10/1
    Called the Congressman's office 10/10
    Interview letter 10/10
    Approval Letters for I-765 and I-131 10/16
    Received EAD/AP card 10/17

    New Card Being Produced 11/16

Congratulations!!! You've been really helpful throughout the process. I'm so happy for you!

    Here's my update....

    Forms sent 6/3
    Forms received 6/7
    Received texts/e-mails 6/12
    PD 6/7 & 6/9
Biometrics letter in mail 6/23 w/ 7/5 date
    SR 9/18
I-485 Online status changed to "Case is ready to be scheduled for an Interview" 9/18
    Approval Letters for I-765 and I-131 10/2
    Received combo card 10/27

Nothing about the interview since then. I tried calling USCIS about 2 weeks ago to "supposedly raise an SR" for the interview but apparently the IO told me they pretty much could not do anything since our case is in line for the interview. We just have to wait because this time everything depends on the field office that is processing our case. So after that phone call, I immediately checked the processing times on their website only to find out that as of 9/30/17 my field office is processing 12/21/16. I don't know anymore.

      I-130

I got my interview at Raleigh NC office on 10/19/17 and after we came in the IO asked us if we received the I130 approval (we filed I130 before I485). We answered we didn't recall.
He smiled and said don't worry we can have the interview since everything else is fine and I already requested the approval to the processing office.
At the end of interview he said everything looked fine and as soon as the approval of I130 (he said he was expecting it in 2 weeks) was available he would have approved. A while month passed by and I didn't get anything yet.
I submitted a SR for I130 approval and the response is I am still under right processing time. Oh well.
      I485 PD 05/05/17
Filed thru marriage I was a L1 visa holder
      RFIE reply on 06/27/2017
      EAD received on 08/30/17

I read your story and thought it was quite similar but you got luckier.
      Anybody with similar experience?

Why didn't you file I-485 concurrently with your spouse's I-130?

Because he was a green card holder in February when I filed I130 as soon as I got his citizenship in April I filed for AOS.
We were not sure how long his citizenship process would have take.
They were super fast in Raleigh NC
