Hello!
Looking for words of advice or anything else that may help our application.
Quick Read:
AOS Filed: August 9, 2016
Received Interview Date for January 2017... but in the wrong location (California vs. Georgia), USCIS fault.
Received Rescheduled Interview Date for July 27, 2017 in Montgomery, AL
USCIS called to reschedule to Atlanta: August 24, 2017
Went to interview on Aug 24, 2017. At time of interview, USCIS made request for updated medical exam (which also needed to include gonorrhea test)
Due to some emergencies, we only mailed the updated medical exam (plus test) on October 3
Never received receipt.
Called USCIS Military Line, they put in a service request on Nov 6 which said we should know something between 15-30 days.
More background:
Filing from Georgia -- our filing office was Montgomery, AL, but they called about 2 hours prior to our interview in July telling us they didn't have the file and it was actually in Atlanta and that they'd need to reschedule. This pushed our interview date out a month which made our medical exam expire. As mentioned above, we sent our updated medical exam but have yet to receive a "receipt" for that information.
We called the Military Help Line and let them know we were concerned - agent let us know our application was clearly outside of the normal processing time and that they were currently giving out decision for AOS filed in November 2016. He put in a service request letting us know we'd likely hear a decision between 15-30 days.
It hasn't been 30 days, but I'm already concerned again. What else can I do? What should I be prepared to do after the 30 days expires?
Do I have any "weight" to complain to anyone/seek special help since USCIS misplaced our case causing this huge delay + making our medical exam expire + still not even hearing if they've received our documents we sent? I've heard of people talking to congressmen/women, is there an equivalent within the army that could help?
Thank you for your time!
