  • glitch?

    January 2018 applicant,

My EAD status along with i485 status changed to 'We reviewed your biometrics and are still processing your case' in https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/. The glitch is my EAD was approved on April 26. Anyone has experienced changing of status after approval. Appreciate any response.

    Thank you,

Have you received the approval notice? If so, then that's a glitch. Have you received the actual EAD card?

Yep, received the approval letter and the physical card. I guess since the underlying i485 status changed, it triggered the same status for i765 as well

          • interview update

            Hi Everyone,

This Forum has been so helpful to me so I'm writing an update.

I had my AOS interview today and was approved on the spot.

            January 31,2018: PD
            March 9, 2018: Biometrics
            March 26, 2018: system glitch
            April 19,2018: Interview Notice
            May 22nd ,2018: Interview

            Los Angeles, CA

The Officer seemed a very "official" at first but then loosened up more as we went on.

He asked for our joint documents and pictures showing and tax returns right after we got sworn in.
Then he went to go make copies of our passports while we gathered all the documents to give to him.
He literally only asked about one picture and didn't even go over all the other evidence.
He asked questions about when we met, what my husband's mom thinks of me, how he would describe me and what we did and ate last night.
He also asked what activities we do as a couple.
He asked me when and why I entered the united states and about school ( i came on a F1 visa)
We had some casual conversation and then he printed out a letter and told us that our marriage looks real and that the approves our case.
He handed us the approval letter explained some info and that was it.

I was pretty nervous at first but everything went great. Just be yourself and answer the questions to you best ability.
Oh and of course I answered some of the yes or no questions that were on the application.

            The interview lasted about 35min.

            Good luck everyone!

If you have the approval notice and the card, you are good. Those are the real authority.

                  Ugh that sucks!!!

For those who get EADs and interview notices, what are you adjusting from? I am originally a F1 visa holder. I wonder if some visa categories are faster than others.

Congratulations! That could not have gone better. Would you please share some more on how you prepared? Namely:
                          1. Did you send all your evidence of bona fide marriage with your AOS application? And then brought updated copies of everything to the interview?
                          2. Did you send some evidence of bona fide marriage with your AOS application or none?
                          3. How long after you met your spouse, did you marry?
                          4. How long after you married did you file for AOS?

I am asking because it did go great AND without knowing how you prepared for it, hearing "just be yourself and answer the questions to the best of your ability" can be misleading. It would be easy to assume there was no preparation involved, and that can snowball into people ignoring page 3/12 of the I-130 instructions, which may lead to a Notice of Intent to Deny-easily.

I am super happy you got approved, but please share more.

                          • How long should i wait for the decision?

I had my interview in Philadelphia for AOS. The IO was just flipping all my papers and asked for our marriage certificate and birth certificate. She asked me the Yes or No questions in I 485 form. She checked my pictures, our insurance, joint bank account and some proof of our marriage and we're living together. Finally she just said, all done and decision will be mail. How long should i wait? is there any chances that i pass?

It depends. It can take from a day to months depending on your case. I hope you get an answer soon.

What I meant by "just be yourself and answer the questions to the best of your ability" is to just try to relax, be honest and answer the questions they ask. Because I was so nervous at first that I stumbled a little on my answers at first. I was a bit worried about that at first but then I got comfortable and still got approved. That's why I said that but I get how it can be misunderstood!

As for the questions you asked me:
I did send all the evidence I had at the time proving bona fide marriage with my package including photos. I brought new evidence (that we got after filing) and copies of the ones we filed to the interview but the officer didn't even look at them lol.

We met in May 2016, moved in together July 2017 and got married in December 2017.
                                We filed January 29th, 2018

                                Hope that helps!
