  • Form I-864 Form

    Hi Everybody,
I am doing the paperwork to get the green card for my mom and I am filling out the I-864. I am not working at this time so my husband is going to be my joint sponsor, however his income is not enough so we need to use the other assets. I am filling two I-864 one for him and one for me. We filed joint taxes and everything is in both names. I am not sure if in each of the I-864's I have to write the 100% value of the home or if I divide in two, also if I write the tax information of each or if I combine both incomes in each form. Please let me know. Thank you.

Your husband shouldn't be a joint sponsor. That wouldn't make any sense. He should be your (the primary sponsor's) household member, and his income should be counted in your household income, and he should fill out I-864A. His assets can also be counted in your household assets if necessary.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
