  • A-number(If Any) for I-130 & I-1-485

    Hello,

I am preparing the forms I-130 and I-485 where they ask for A-number. what I should put in that?
I am US Citizen and My spouse is a foreign citizen on F-1 Visa. Based on our status what I should put in the field of A-Number(If any) or USCIS Number? or I mean where I can find this A-Number for us?

I will really appreciate your response.

    Thank You

If your spouse hasn't applied to immigrate before, they don't have an A number; put "none".

The numbers on nonimmigrant cards are not the same. Only A numbers used for immigration should be answered there.

she was having B1/B2 visa and currently on F1 Visa, we wont find any A-number on that status am I right? We should spell out NONE or 00000000 something for form I-485?
Also what About me? am I have to put A-number on form I-130 as I become an US Citizen through neutralization? I came to US through family based Visa. so I was having Green card before.

          Thank You

No she does not have OPT yet. Currently, she is a student.
However, I was having a Green card through parents before becoming US Citizen. should I put my previous A- number (Greencard number) on I-130?

If they ask for your spouse's A-number, sure, include that. You are a US citizen now and an A-number is irrelevant and does not apply. USCIS number - once you file and get a Notice of Action letter, you will be able to create a USCIS account and that would be your/hers USCIS number. For now, you don't have that. We are leaving that blank since it says "if any", but "none" sounds reasonable, too.

Are you sure of this? I though A-number was much like social security number. Once you've obtain A-number, it does not change.

So based on what you wrote, someone who has obtained A-number from OPT should not put A-number on the application?

so you mean as I am US Citizen now I don't need to put A-number even though I had one when I was having Green card?
About my spouse, she wont have any A- number as she is carrying Non-Immigrate Visas (B1/B2 and F1).
In short , on both forms (I-130 & I-485) ,we can put NONE or 000-000-0000 or leave it blank? (Please let me know which option will work?)

Thank you so much for your reply.
