  • I was in the military in Ireland (reserves)

    Hi,

    I’m doing the I-485

Part 8. General Eligibility and Inadmissibility Ground

-question 49. Have you EVER received any type of military, paramilitary, or weapons training?

-question 55. Have you EVER served in, been a member of, assisted, or participated in any military unit, paramilitary unit, police unit, self-defense unit....etc

I was in the Irish Reserve Defense Forces for one year. It was part time, one evening per week and the odd week away, however it is military and I received weapons training. Will answering yes to questions 49 and 55 cause refusal of a green card?

    Thanks

    02/20/2018 - Received 4 I-797 NOA letters

04/08/2018 - Expedited EAD (Extreme Emergent Situation)
04/20/2018 - Received a letter requesting evidence of Extreme Emergent Situation

No it's not. They'll check records and the Irish are still allies with US. I myself was in the Dutch Marine Corps and met my wife (us citizen) in Afghanistan, she was US Army. No problems what so ever
