we are just completing our I-485 having submitted the I-140 7 months ago. When checking through paperwork it seems that on my L1 Visa application my lawyer didnt include my previous known name. Lets say i was born John Jones and 5 years ago ago became John Jones-Smith. All my documentation is John Jones-Smith and everything was approved but when going to complete my I-485 i noticed the previous known name was missing from my already filed paperwork.
Should i now just use john jones-smith OR should i include my previous known name even though it would highlight an omission on the original paperwork?
For record, i have entered the US many years ago under 'john jones' and multiple times under 'john jones-smith' so im guessing fingerprints etc match up.
Any advice?
