Anyone else adjust from coming to US on ESTA?

I brought my husband here on ESTA visa waiver program to meet my dad, but the whole getting into the country ordeal made me say “eff it let’s try to stay for a while”. (Eventually want to go back to Japan for child-raising)
EAD came last week, status changed to waiting for interview date.

Should we be worried because of the ESTA entry?
