    Hello everyone,

As usual, thank you for your answers and help in advance.

My AOS package was sent to USCIS last year. They took my biometrics on 12/14/17. All of my applications online (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131) still said that the last activity was on 11/28/17, which was when I got my notice for the biometrics.

However, this past Monday, I checked the website and it now changed the activity for my I-765. It now says 1/12/18, New Card is being produced...but it is the only application with any changes, everything else is still 11/28/17.

I heard it takes about 7-10 business days for me to receive the card, however, isn't it supposed to come combined with the I-131? Why does that not show any changes?

Also, I heard in the news that the government may shut down...which would be awful, since I already experienced it during one of my applications in the past. For how long is that new EAD Card good for? In case the government does shut down, which fingers crossed, I hope it doesn't.

If things remain the same as today, meaning no shut down, am I on the right track for this process? Would I be receiving a notification for an interview shortly after received the EAD Card? or what is next after the EAD Card is issued?

One last thing, my old EAD Card that I got through OPT expired Jan 1st of this year. I went to the DMV to try to renew my license, since it expired the same day as my EAD Card, but it was no use. They wouldn't take any of my 797s or any information online I had. Would I be able to now renew my license with this new EAD Card?

    Thank you!

My I-765 came with I-131. You have to look for the statement that indicates that the card can be used for travel. Can you explain about the government shut down? That sounds highly unlikely but please do explain. In terms of EAD expiration I believe mine was good for until October but usually the aim is for USCIS to provide you an EAD so that you can start working while they are working on your green card application. Sometimes the process takes longer so you have the ability to renew the EAD.

Yes once you get the EAD, you can actually get your SSN and you can use it as one of the identity documents in order to get your DL.

      As answered by newacct

USCIS is almost completely self-funded by fees, and is unaffected by shutdowns. (Some processes that require interacting with other departments, e.g. LCA for H1b, may be affected as those other departments shut down.) Visas are not handled by USCIS; that is the Department of State.

Thank you for your answer. I really have no other information regarding the government shut down. I just saw it on the news, saying that if they didn't come to an agreement (I believe on DACA, but don't quote me on that), the government would shut down tonight. However, I don't know what the standing is as of right now.

In your timeline, could you tell me what SR means and why did you have to contact a congressman?

          Hello,

As an update, I check my USCIS account today...A few days later. My I-765 now says that it has been mailed out to me and my I-131 was approved. I am guessing because they will come together in the same card. Like I said, it happened today (Friday 19th). Online it said that the card was being produced on Friday 12th.

My I-130 and I-485 remain unchanged ever since they sent me the notice for biometrics a month ago.

Do you have any idea when that might change?
