    Hey guys
I need some advice on what to do so I got married in October 2015 and filed my i485 and i130 based on marriage in April 2016 I had my interview in September 2016 it went good and then the interviewer asked me to step out and she asked my wife about an ex boyfriend which was so weird and that was during the presence of the lawyer and that’s it she let her out and she didn’t ask me any questions or anything and I haven’t heard from them since that day. So since that day I did a bunch of inquires I called a bunch of times did an info pass went to the congressman that represents our district and explained my situation and he mailed USCIS and every single thing me the response that I get is background checks it’s so frustrating it’s been almost a year and a half since the interview and me and my wife have been together for little over 2 years I don’t know what’s going on so if I can get advice or recommendations would be greats thanks folks

That must be terribly frustrating. On the upside though, you are looking at getting the 10 year card now. Since you've been married for over two years now, your case will then be adjudicated past the two year mark.
I would not be too worried about the outcome. Be confident in your marriage. You've had two years to gather even more solid evidence. Before poking the bear one more time, I'd make sure to have plenty of evidence handy in case they call you both for an interview on a short notice.

How about requesting a freedom of information act on your case? I've heard others mention that as an option on this forum. Perhaps others can chime in.

didn't do anything. just one interview and approved in a month or two after that.

Here is the link to The Freedom of Information Act request.

Here is the link to the instructions pdf and an explanation of the purpose of the form. It does state to not use the form to determine the status of pending applications. HOWEVER, your application is way outside of normal processing times and that question the ISO asked your wife was out of left field. So whatever that ISO is/was up to, you need to know.

Another option is to contact your congressperson who will inquire on the status of your case. It does not speed things up. HOWEVER, it prompts someone to walk over to wherever your file is laying around, they grab it and put it on someone's desk who is able to review it. So it does not speed things up but you could argue that in a way it does because sometimes files just get pushed to a corner and are forgotten. It's what happened to mine. Mine took so long that by the time my attorney managed to get me an appointment with the ISO handling my case, she told me "Why didn't you just apply for US citizenship?" JUST LIKE THAT.

Another option is an infopass appointment, here is the link for that

I wish you all the best of luck. Do not forget that while everyone on this forum gives advice or shares opinions on immigration law facts or the AOS process, those are merely opinions whether accurate or not, the fact remains that they are opinions.

Contact your Congressperson's office and have them intervene on your behalf
