Hi, on ESTA, newly married and applying for a green card

I am filing out the I-131

I am hoping to get home for 10 days in May for my sister's wedding. (Although it may be too late now?)

Filing out the I-131. Page 4, part 7, item one asks for a spare sheet of paper with my explanation of why I qualify for advance parole?

Can I simply say "I am applying for advance parole because I wish to return to x on x date for my sister's wedding."

    Is it that simple?

    Thanks

It might be too late, but it doesn't hurt to try.

No, you do not have to provide any explanation or pieces of paper. That paragraph on the form you are referring to says "(see instructions)", and if you see instructions, you will see that you attach a letter OR attach AOS receipt. So AOS applicants do not need to provide any explanation letter. If you are filing the I-131 together with I-485, you don't even need to provide an I-485 receipt.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

I'm hoping to go back to England in May, also for a wedding. I applied December 11th and am hoping I get AP in time. Inhavevan appointment next week in the hope I can hurry it along as my friends need to know for their numbers. I put an explanation in anyway, figured it wouldn't hurt.

Back in the day, you could get an "emergency" AP by lining up outside the immigration office at 3am (Newark) not sure if that still happens.

        I am from England too.

        You needed an "emergency" excuse.

Thank you.Another English person - my first one on here! Yes, I don't expect it will be any help by going to the appointment, bytbits what the USCIS lady told me to do on the phone. I'd called about another matter and mentioned it.

              advance parole

              Hi,

I applied for an advance Parole to travel for June 2018 but i'm a bit worries i won't have it in time. It is with my understanding that you only need the AP upon re-entry. Let's say I leave when it is still processing and someone mails it to me from my house while i'm still away and use it when i re-enter. Will this work? Or are you obliged to wait for it prior to leaving. I'm a leaving for 4 weeks in June for my wedding. Thank you

You must be granted Advance Parole before leaving, or you will automatically abandon your AOS.
