Quick background:
I'm an active duty US Navy sailor from California, currently stationed overseas. I married my wife right before I went to my duty station overseas, and we decided that she won't come with me so she can start working on taking a few classes to allow her to work as a nurse in California. I filed an I-485 for my wife to get her green card back in Sept 2016. She did her interview on 07 Feb 2017. She was not told anything afterwards. A year passed and no word about her green card yet. After my deployment I took leave and went back home to go to USCIS in Los Angeles around mid-November 2017, and the representative said her case has been passed down from the regional supervisor to a branch manager and we'll just have to wait. Then a around December or January she had to do her biometrics again. Also, she had to renew her EAD back in November since it will expire sometime this month, and even that application did not result in any mailing of her new EAD. I don't know what's going on and it's really putting a damper on things. People say we'll just have to wait but after more than a year, it's starting to be worrisome. We think it may be because she did not come with me and immigration officials are taking their time to ensure our marriage isn't **** . I don't know.
Has this happened to anyone here? If so, I would like to hear your side and advise me on what to do. I'll speak with our base legal and see if they can help (doubtful, but I'll give it a try nonetheless), and if that doesn't work we'll have to get a lawyer.
Please advise. Thank you for your inputs.
