Tax issues in I-485

I plan to file my I-485. Previously I was a full year on J1 tax treaty and therefore issued a 1042s form instead of W2. Ideally, anyone staying more than 2 years on J1 visa, should pay back the tax that is benefited due to tax treaty. I'm planning to pay back this tax being in safeside. Does anyone having the experience to pay back this tax? Should I simply file with this year's tax return? Or there is no need to pay the tax right now unless asked. Please suggest.
