  • I-693 Medical - Illinois

Anyone from Illinois? I wonder where did you guys get your medical examination and how much did it cost you? Thank you.

These exams are a rip off. My wife had to go get a 2nd exam done, our case has been processing since 08/2015 and they informed us her original had expired. They've been making us wait for a decision for almost 3 years and now tell us we have to go spend another couple hundred $$ on another exam. So furious with this system, its a joke.

We originally went to a civil surgeon in Mchenry, IL, (Oscar Sanchez MD). He WAS one of the cheaper ones about 2-3 years ago. But now he's raised his price to $330. I think last time we paid $360 for both my wife and step son together. That's roughly $700 down the drain because USCIS cant make a decision in 3 years. Pathetic.

I am in Tampa area, called many doctors and most of them asking $300+ fee and then vaccination cost. Any web site where you fond the doctor doing this for $95? we have appointment on 4/4/2018.

Hey, Yes I just did it last week. My PD is November 2, 2017. I went to a clinic in South side Chicago and it cost about $400, I needed to get the X-ray for PD and some other tests. I showed them my vaccination record and it reduced the cost a lot. If you have everything done with your own doctor already, it'll cost ~$250 for the physical exam.

Also, I called the first 10 people on the list (put zip code #60632 in the search box), generally around $200-500, and the lowest price was $200 including PD X-ray test....I just went with St. Anthony because a friend did it there and it was well done.

When is your PD date? Hope that helps!

My PD is Feb 22. I have a long way to go. Do you have interview date already? What are the vaccines needed for this medical?

BTW - from which country are you from?

                    Thank you.

                            I-693 Instructions, page 8. #6
                            6. May any doctor perform the required medical examination?
Only a doctor who was designated by USCIS as a civil surgeon may perform the medical examination. USCIS will not accept a Form I-693 completed by a doctor who is not a currently designated civil surgeon.

Military physicians do get a blanket designation and are exempt from both USCIS application and fee requirements for civil surgeon designation. However, military physicians must review and be familiar with CDC?s Technical Instructions for the Medical Examination of Aliens in the United States before they can begin performing immigration medical examinations.

here is the link to the application to I-190 Application for Civil surgeon designation.
Use this form to apply for civil surgeon designation. You do not need to apply for civil surgeon designation if you fall under the limited blanket designations for military physicians and state and local health departments.

I would just pull up the list of civil surgeons in your area and cross-reference that with your in-network physicians on your insurance's webpage. It shouldn't take you too long to find a few matches. Then you can try to get the visit billed as a yearly physical if the physician is cool, there is a good chance that it might just be covered.

By the way, you're up. Member "Herewecome" just got his notice for interview and his I-485 was also inaccessible around the same time that you were getting that error. I am hereby, officially betting another $1 dollar that Kaylip's interview notice is in the mail. LOL
