  • I-485 filed by law firm and during employment with previous company

    Hello,

I was employed in the Us for a company under an L1 visa, after about 6 months I started the process of getting my green card, for which my employer at the time used a given immigration attorneys firm to do all the related tasks. I quit my job (several months after my I-485 was filed) for a new opportunity (outside of the US) showed up, but apparently the GC process went through after a few other months and now my I-485 was approved (the law firm hired by my former employee mentioned so when I asked them recently to get a copy of all my records).

    Given the current conditions:
-I am not at the US under any work visa anymore, but have visited it many times in the last 2 years for my current employer for business meetings, etc.
-My I-485 was approved, yet I don't have the formal copy with me for it never reached my hands, but the law firm has the copy of it.
-I currently am on the process of relocating again to the US

    Is it possible to:
    - Get a formal copy of my approved I-485?
    - Have my new employer (currently processing my H1 visa) use its law firm to follow up on my approved I-485?
    - With the currently approved I-485, continue the process of my green card?

    Thanks!

Did you have advance parole when you left the US? if you did not then your i-485 was approved in error and is invalid.
