  • Biometric Appointment

    Hi all,
biometric appointment accomplished! Now the long wait starts. It can be some months like 1 year... better not think about it. I'm lucky enough to have an H1B so I can work and travel without any problem.

I just want describe my experience at the biometric appointment. Please consider I used Cincinnati office on 550 Main St, other offices around the nation might change their process.

At the entrance there was a security check like in an airport. I was indicated the office and I entered. There were several people, a family looked from South America and a couple looked from Asia. I showed my letter and document to the lady at the entrance, I filled a form with general info and waited to be called. Once called a pic of me was taken and so the finger prints of all my fingers. Apparently they were not very visible so they spray on it a lotion (I think a gentle degreaser) and the process was done. I was asked to fill an anonymous comment.

Neither myaccount.uscis nor my egov have been updated yet. I guess the long wait will begin as soon as the system is updated. I hope to come in this forum often to see how you guys are doing.

I wish you all the best in the meantime and be confident that sooner or later the process will be over!!!

Hi, quick question? First off CONGRATS! Secondly I was wondering, what exactly is a H1B? Is it quicker to get that vs the EAD? I've filed my I130, I765, I485, family based. I'm married to a US citizen.
      PD - 2/20/18

Flyforever85 is on a work visa (H1B) that allows travel without Advance Parole, while adjusting status.

MicaAshani, yes, as UScitizenFilingforspouse told you I'm on a working visa so a company (a University actually) decided to sponsor me and it's valid until 2021 as today.

Also, small update. While in my.uscis nothing appears as yet, egov.uscis has changed in:

As of April 18, 2018, we completed our review of your fingerprints and are working on your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC XYZ, at our National Benefits Center location. We will let you know if we make a decision or need anything from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

No matter what I do with the egov.uscis.gov account, it just does not update like that. I think yours is going to happen fast. It's been that way for other Cincinnati filers. One got the "ready to be scheduled for interview" 13 days after biometrics was completed. Then 5 days later, got the "interview scheduled" update. That would put you around May 7th for that update; interview notice by mail a few days later. Interview June 7th. I hereby bet USD$1 on that.

Every place is different then. Over here, they didn't even ask for my ID, even though I was not supposed to be there.
On 04/15/18, they posted on the account this update: "we reviewed your biometrics and are still processing your case" with a date of 04/13/18. No notifications/text/email.

                    Congrats!

Lee's Summit, MO is where National Benefits Center (NBC) is located. They will stage and prepare your case and mail it to Hartford,CT USCIS local office once the interview is scheduled. Vermont Center is not involved with family based AoS. You will mostly likely be asked to go to Hartford, CT USCIS local office for interview.

LOL, good one. June-ish would be about 1/2 the processing time for Cincinnati. Maybe more. It seems like it's gone pretty fast for other Cincinnati filers.

I made a mistake with my timeline,
I actually got my receipts yesterday, April 17th.

Also is your PD March 30th?
And where are you filing from?
Apparently my case was sent to Lee's Summint, MO.
Wonder how quick they process in that location.

I assume you meant washington DC. Follow this link https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Select I-485 first then Washington DC and you will see an interval in months. The first number indicates the number of months it takes to complete 50% of the application; the second value indicates the number of months needed to complete 93% of the application. It's statistic based. this means your application can take as long ad 5 months if everything goes smooth.

Thanks UScitizenFilingforspouse for the explanation! And if you read, your inbox is full and you don't accept any other private message
