For those who received that message.... how many days/weeks after that did you receive the interview notice with the interview date/time?

Im moving in one month and thinking on changing my mailing address with USCIS in 2 weeks so I'm wondering of the probability that I receive the interview letter before all this change of address mess. Also.... do they give interview dates by phone in case there's any issue with a notice being lost when I change address?

      Thanks!
It's not that proportional unfortunately. I receive the notification "Your case is ready to be schedule for an interview" 2 weeks ago, Sinoptola and I have exactly the same time line and her interview has been set up in a city that takes 30% longer than mine to get an interview. The fact that youe case is ready for an interview means that they don't need an RFE nor other documents. But you can stay in that status for months.
can I ask you where are you filing from?

Thanks for the info, I am filing from Rochester MN but my fingerprint was in St Paul MN. But I'm moving to a different state so I'm not sure if my interview will be in MN or in the new state.

Did you apply for EAD too?

I forget now who was the first one to get the employment based notice. That person called and the Level 1 didn?t know what to say, who then got a Level 2 who said ? it?s all good. You?re confirmed for your marriage based interview?

Eventually this happened to someone at a very busy field office. I think it was NYC. The person called and asked and the officer said ?no, ignore that. That?s an error? or something like that. Basically get back in line.

Historically, I?ve won ONE raffle in my life. This kindda stuff just doesn?t happen to me. Haha. So we?ll either move or hire a attorney elsewhere once I figure out what triggers the change in jurisdiction.

        What?s your field office?

I saw the statistically speaking, whoever allows the partner to enter with a finance visa and gets married quickly receives also the interview quicker than anybody else.
So fiance visas work a bit different. Up until recently, USCIS waived almost all k1-AOS interviews. If they called anyone for interview it was because of lack of evidence OR for audit purposes. K-1s have done most of their legwork by the time they get to the US. By the time they get here, they've already satisfied their burden of proof; i.e., evidence they have met physically within the last two years, that the relationship is genuine and that they plan to get married and build a life together.

Their applications are usually front-loaded. By the time they get to the embassy, many report even seeing a stamp on their file already - "granted" or "not granted". Interviews are short. They rely on evidence submitted with the applications and often times, the consular officer declines to accept any additional evidence at the interview. So it makes sense that their AOS interviews would be waived. HOWEVER, USCIS claims they are interviewing k-1 AOS applications filed after April 17th, 2017. But that has not really happened.

Interviews in the case of K-1s are not a bad thing. There are a lot of unfortunate cases of human trafficking that have occurred through k-1 visas. Not having an interview takes away that victim's last chance to cry for help. Until recently, the US citizen was not subject to many, if any, background checks, so you could potentially be marrying someone with a heavy criminal record.

It may seem they get their green cards really fast. For the most part they do. However, if you take into account all the waiting they had to do in order to get the interview at the Embassy, it isn't necessarily faster. And now with these "system glitches"...? LOL, why would anyone want to go the k-1 route?

Once you move, the interview will be done in the new office. I hope for you you're moving somewhere where the application gets processed faster. Someone else in this forum is from MN and unfortunately it's one of the slowest offices.

I did apply for my EAD but I haven't receive any update in the status. It's been "We completed the review of your fingerprints" since April 18 (my biometric appointment). Generally it takes around 3 months so possibly by the end of June I'll have it. Even though I won't use it since I'm on H1B

No need to be concerned. Have you seen the processing times? Work permits are taking 3-5 months. Green card interviews are taking 4-18 months depending on where you live. I'd settle in for a wait if I were you.
