Then again, that makes you a non-US citizen who is adjusting status. It does not grant you any status. You won't have status until you adjust status.
Now what ends up happening a lot at the Minneapolis office is that the interview becomes this huge production. The interview is really supposed to be a meet & greet. You just got to the US, you have some documentation and then get 2 years to build your life together and of course, gather more evidence of bona fide marriage.
However, since people end up getting to the interview around the 2 year mark, the Minneapolis Field Office separates every or at least MOST couples; especially if you are in for the 10 year card. It's their last chance to catch someone who should not be admitted and granted LPR status. The 10 year card is almost guaranteed if everything is in order. It's happened that people show up without documentation and end up having rough ride. Case is held for review, then you may see a Notice of Intent to deny.

To me, it's not worth it to have my spouse sitting around for 2 years to adjust status - definitely not in this political climate. It does not feel right. If he were to go back to Malaysia with his engineering degree from a Big 10 school, he would be in high demand. He gave up a lot to stay here. Here is a good example of that. The current Minister of Economic affairs is an alumnus of the University of Minnesota. https://en. ******** *.org/wiki/Mohamed_Azmin_Ali

But again, to others, waiting to get to the interview on or around the 2 year mark, might be a good choice. Thank you for bringing that up. It's good to present all sides.
Thanks, yep actually there is no right answer. I will be out of status soon, but then I am trying to keep my F1 status by doing further studies, because it is hard to depend on "AOS pending status". Anyway I just wanted to give a comparision, because in some cases like Houston and Minnesota, you may save an interview and atleast an year on greencard.

      • My biometrics was done on April 24, and there has been no change since then. Should I be worried? Should I give them a call?

You should be fine. Since you've been married for 4 years (?) and have only been in the US for the last 7 months, the ISO will likely want to see the paper trail of your life together abroad - prior to your arrival in the US, and verify that you two lived together abroad, as well. It looks fine from this side of the fence. You know the drill. Be able to articulate the reason for any gaps in documentation, divorce/marriage, etc.
They may very well ask why you chose to adjust status vs consular processing. If you had a life together abroad, why interrupt it and come here to wait for a green card? None of these questions may cross the ISOs mind if the couple appears legit, and it shouldm, as you have a daughter together.

All the best! Shoot for an on-the-spot approval and bring that 10 year green card home.

Does after "case is ready to be scheduled" you can still move to another file center? What it needs to be done in order to change jurisdiction?

                      Hello!

Is it possible to move the case to the different field office, after is "ready to be scheduled" since my field office is in Queens, NY and waiting line is long?
What is necessary to be done to change jurisdiction?

                      • We reviewed your biometrics and are still processing your case

I wanted to ask your thoughts on 'We reviewed your biometrics and are still processing your case' status. My case status on egov, uscis never changed, stayed as fingerprint fee received. And on the uscis account shown as "We reviewed your biometrics and are still processing your case" since May 3rd. I know from the fact that I don't have any background issues and I was out of status very short time less than 3 months which is after we were already married... I also recieved courtesy letter even before my biometrics appoitment. Is there any action that I can take to understand or just be PATIENT!! which is very difficult..

You just have to be paitent I am afraid. The length of time you are stuck on this stage is pretty hit or miss and depends a lot on the cases infront of you. I know some people moved onto the next stage within a day or so, whereas others have been stuck for a prolonged period of time. I was stuck on this stage for abour 34 days.

Hey, I really wish I could help, but trust me I have been seeing cases so weird, it all depends on the person reviewing your case, sometimes there is no update till you directly see an rfe or "interview was scheduled" directly. So when you think too much on the issue you feel like they must be something wrong in your profile, a very small thing looks like a big mistake on your profile, but that's rarely the case. I am sure it is just a matter of time till you see a change in the status.

Thank you for the feedback and your best wishes. The interview went easy and well Thank God, approved on the spot. I also asked for an I-551 stamp to my passport and got it after waiting a while. I will post my interview details on a separate post. Thank you for the support as well. All the best.

Ha! That's phenomenal! Congratulations! Kept us in suspense here!

PS: So it's OK then to just ask if they'll stamp your passport. Did you ask after getting the approval letter? Or did you gently press the issue after a verbal approval and no letter? And the ISO said yes but you had to wait because he/she had more checks to do? Or had to ask a supervisor?
