I have had the same SSN for the past 10 years with different statuses ( J1 exchange student when I was 19), when back to my home country then same SSN when moved as an F1 OPT and filed taxes and now I will be using the same. Your SSN is your forever and won?t change, what you need to do is call SSN number and have them mail you a new card ( they print on the card your type of authorization )

After getting married I moved to a new state. On my I-765 application, I didn't request for a new SS card thinking that I don't need one. Now the question is when I get my new EAD should I go to social security to make sure everything is aligned with my new "status" and make address change?

You will have to update it again once you get your green card and later, once you become a citizen. You want all your IDs to have the reflect your current immigration status, otherwise the e-verify system may not be able to confirm your identity.
Side note: Did you get your USPS tracking number? If you have informed delivery, you can turn on notifications there. You should get a text with your USPS tracking number. We got the text from USPS around 2pm and the case tracker app notified us the card was picked up. Now another text letting us know the ETD is 08-06-18 by 8pm.

Since you didn't check the box to get a new card, you will have to go to the SSA to update your status. Calling does not work. In some states US citizens are able to request a replacement card online OR you can mail the documents. It's best to just go in person.

I would go to the SSA on a Friday about 1/2 hour before they close. It's all up to you. That's just my 1 cent advice.

I never got around to updating my SSN until last year in December. I've been a citizen since 2005. No one ever told me I was not authorized to work. It was only ever an issue - more of an inconvenience- when I was a student and the school would ask to see my green card every semester. In the mean time, I had become a citizen ages ago.

From my own experience, you can most definitely get your SSN with your EAD card not the receipt but the card. So go right ahead to the SSA, take along your government ID assport or DL.
