  • Asking for Temporary I-551 stamp at the end of the interview

    Hi Everyone,

I have a flight scheduled exactly a week after my interview. In case it would be approved on the spot, and I still haven't received my AP, is it OK to ask the officer to stamp my passport?

Seen bunch of posts about I-551... Some people get their passport stamped without asking, some don't get stamped, some ask but told to wait for the card in the mail...

Anyone that asked, please share your experience.

    Thanks in advance!

    No harm in asking

If they approve it on the spot, you can ask. But not that not all officers approve it on the spot. Some officers say that everything looks fine and they are inclined to approve it, but it is their policy to look it over and approve it that night, in which case you cannot get the stamp until later.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
