  • Interview for employment based i485 - Info needed.

    Hi all,

I see lots of info about the actual interview for family based i485's but not a lot for employment based ones. Can anyone share their experiences of what to expect? How long did it last? What did they ask? What to bring? Anything else I should know?

    Thanks.

What I read on other pages and from my collegue experiences is a simple interview. For EB-1a they usually ask about your future plans and how you come (meaning what brought you here) to the US. They also ask depedent (wife/husband) how know each other or proofs they are living together.

Hope other in this forum will share their experience, although is difficult because once the GC is approved noone come back to this forum.

Just wanted to update this now that I have had my interview, hopefully it will be of use to people in the future.

I arrived, with my lawyer, about 25 minutes before the appointment time. We were called in to the office about 10 minutes after the scheduled time and the officer apologized for the delay. It was all very straightforward, basically she confirmed the info on the I-485. I had to show her my passport, birth certificate, EAD card, employment offer letter and some recent pay stubs.

Within 5 minutes of entering, she asked where I would like my green card sent to. She then confirmed some more details, name, address, phone number etc and that was it. She told me I was approved on the spot and congratulated me, telling me "you can now relax". All in all, a very pleasant, professional and straightforward process. We were out in less than 15 minutes.

Having everything prepared properly for the 485 and having the lawyer present helped a lot I think. The lawyer didn't really say anything but his presence put me at ease.

My appointment was in the afternoon and I got an notification the next morning saying that was card was being made. Hopefully it will arrive next week.

Hopefully this info helps others on their journey. I was quite anxious as the employment bases interviews are just being started again so there is not much info out there.

      Good luck all!

Which category did you apply? EB2 or 3?
