  • Finally got green card approved

April 17 _ filed for AOS (work based)
Oct 17 - supposed to have our interview but lawyer was out of the country and applied to have it rescheduled
    Oct17- receive our ead cards
April 18 - finally get our new interview date. The interview was very quick. Less than 15 minutes. I think this is because it was employment based and they have just started doing this. The officer was very nice. I had lots of paperwork and they hardly looked at it. She just went through her list of questions and then said we were approved and we would get a letter in the mail soon. I?ve been here since 2010 on h1b visas and I?m so glad this is over.

Congratulations! It's good to know they're keeping it short and sweet to not create an even greater backlog. May I ask what field office? That just gives other members a sense of processing times. Thank you.

          Congratulations!

As others have asked, would you mind sharing what they asked? Also, you brought your lawyer? Do you think it was necessary?

            Questions

It was at the Detroit field office. I think it was probably necessary to have a lawyer for filling out the application. Mine got quite complicated. Maybe not for the interview but he insisted and by that stage we had already spent a lot of money so it would have been foolish not to have him there. The questions were exactly what was on our i485 application such as - have you ever been arrested. She asked who I worked for, what my address is and how long I have lived there. She also wanted to see all my old passports because I had twice gotten a j1 visa and she checked I wasn?t subject to home residency requirements. It was really straight forward. My lawyer told me if it was marriage based it would have been a lot more questions.

Congratulation , also thinking the presence of your lawyer there and then made difference. Mine is marriage base and waiting for interview date

Detroit, MI - you should be up soon. 50% of cases done in 5.5 months. Not bad.

Hi Sam43, Congratulations! Can you let us know when you receive your greencard? Your dates are kind of similar to mine with when you received your EAD and your interview time so that would be very helpful to me. Any tips for someone preparing for their interview? Were you EB1?

Our lawyer received our green cards yesterday. I think we were eb3. I think you are best to assume they will question you on everything about your job and personal life/marriage. That?s what we expected. Then if it happens you will be ready for it. And hopefully you will get an officer like I got 👍
