I've ready many forum posts and other pages on this and other websites pertaining to birth certificate requirements for I-485. I believe my situation is somewhat unique and I have a few questions.
Key details:
- Canadian citizen through naturalization
- Working in the US on TN status
- Recently married American citizen (by birth)
- No original birth certificate, but have a copy of the notarized/translated version
- No name on original or notarized/translated version, except my parents'
It will be very hard for me to obtain the original birth certificate as we no longer have significant ties in, or upcoming trips to, India. Can the copy of notarized/translated birth certificate be used in addition to other documents? Can this be corroborated with other documents, like my old Indian passport, Canadian landing paper (which has my date of birth and parents' names), or affidavits from both of my parents?
