            • Interview done

              Hi all,

Just had my interview this morning. Lasted about 20-30min.

The officer was friendly, made some jokes even! When I was gathering extra evidence for her she ?stopped? me and said it was enough.

She went over all the standard questions for my husband and me (parents names, address, birthdays...). For me she went over the i485 questions and she asked us how we met, what we like to do, about our wedding. Not that many questions or anything really specific.

After the interview she said she would go over the application -she believed she had everything and our application did indeed contain everything- and if everything is present and ok she would approve us. We received a letter stating we were recommended for approval at the end and she explained about the conditional green card and wished us a good day.

All in all it went well I believe! Anyone know what happens typically in this situation? Are actual approvals fast, or do they indeed send out post-interview RFE?s?

Timeline below, 86days from case was received to interview I believe.

Mine took weeks. A few persons on here got theirs in 4 weeks. I got mine in 5. The officer had told me to allow 2-5 weeks though. Did the officer tell u anything about time frame on when to expect it?

I received the approval 4 or 5 hours after we left the interview. I received my Green Card 8 days later. And it was only 8 days because they had it ready on Friday but USPS didn't pick it up until Monday. So from when they picked it up it took 2 days.

Congrats, that's pretty much how our interview went and we had 3 month turn around too!

Congrats! Yes, the Cleveland office will remain as fast, regardless of what the generic processing times say. The raw data is up on the USCIS website, and Cleveland pretty much kept the same pace even though employment-based interviews were phased in.

                            • Some levity in these stressful times...

My driver's license has expired. I can't renew it because I'm is/was on a H1b. The attorney filed for an extension (non-premium processing) so i'm apparently "safe" because of the 240 day rule. It'll take a while before we hear back from USCIS.

See my signature for my timeline.
It's going to be hilarious if I get called for a GC interview (before I receive my EAD) and I can't drive down to the USCIS field office. Mind you, the nearest field office is ~one hour away. I looked at Uber and Lyft. It's gonna cost ~$200 both ways. I wonder if i can get the bill for Lyft/Uber and send it to my employer. I've a strong inkling that HR f-ed up my case all this while.

Sit tight fellow sojourners. May you receive good news and find your new home!

Employment based AOS is not my forte. I do know that in some states, like Minnesota, you are able to obtain and renew your driver's license with your I-485 pending notice of action. You did list your field office. Where do you live?
