  • Has anyone gone through Change of Address with USCIS

I have a question. I moved on 4/6 and changed the address for all three pending receipts online on 4/10. I got confirmation number through email for all three forms. We just moved to another apartment within the apartment complex. So address still stays the same but just the apartment number is changed.
I?m now a little confused because I received a letter from USCIS today acknowledging my change of address but the second paragraph writes

Please remember: By law every person who is not a US citizen and who is over 14 must submit form AR-11 AND notify this office of their change of address within 10 days from when they move...... And it goes on.

I called USCIS and the officer told me she was confused as well with the letter I got so I should call back tomorrow and speak to another officer because today the had a high call volume.

Has anyone changed their address and only did it online without sending the form above?

Did you submit the change of address form one time and list all receipt numbers on there, or did you submit the form multiple times doing one for each receipt number?

I had a nightmare updating mine. At first I tried to list all of the receipt numbers but it only updated for my I-485. So I went back and submitted individually for my EAD and AP forms too, and my husband's I-130. I only received one letter/confirmation in the post that said I'd called to request to change my address and the address at the top of the letter was what they had on file. For the other forms, I received emails confirming that they had changed the address. Then we remembered we had to do the I-865 too! No confirmation on if they've received that.

None of my communication from them mentions an 'AND' - it's just a reminder to fill in the form online if my address changes. I understand that the online form is the AR-11.

      Thank you for your response.

I submitted change of address individually for each form. I only have 3 receipt numbers for I30, I765 and I485. I got three confirmation emails of change of address for each receipt number. I just got USPS mail today from them and it?s only confirming change of address for I485.
I just didn?t know that the online form to change address is the AR-11 as you have indicated.

You either do it online or by mail. It makes more sense to do it online, though. You get an email confirming that you requested a change of address. Then a few days later, you get a second email confirming it's done. Here's the link that explains you do either one. You do not have to do both. The AR-11 is available online or on paper.
If you have filed an immigration benefit request with USCIS, you must notify USCIS of any changes of address as soon as

I changed my address in 2015 and got confirmation letter, then in Dec 2017 RFE was sent at previous address, submitted address change online again and also called in. confirmed the address was changed. a new notification was sent out this month and it seems to have gone to the previous address.

This whole process is a nightmare. I changed my address for the main I-485 and listed the others on the same form. I have been waiting on something in the mail, which I assume now has gone to the old address

I think you are supposed to change it for every form separately. I did it that way and revived the letter of confirmation to the new address. I agree, it is very frustrating.

It does have all the space to add extra receipt numbers so I think it's supposed to work that way. Even after submitting multiple forms, I have only received one confirmation letter in the post with confusing wording. My USCIS cases online do show a service request and completion for each receipt number.

Don't forget, anyone with a sponsor (form I-864) who also moves needs the sponsor to complete the I-865 https://www.uscis.gov/i-865

Thanks so much! Where did you find out about this form I-865 - there is so much to read I must have missed it

And why is one online and one a form to mail in, I bet this is what my RFE is going to ask for and I could have sent it a month ago

It's listed on this page https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange under 'US Citizens' - "If you have previously submitted a Form I-864 for someone who immigrated to the U.S., you must complete a Form I-865 within thirty days of the completion of your move."

The online change of address form is for applicants to update our cases. It's a bit of a mess. I'm fully expecting USCIS to send things to my old address, so that'll be fun to deal with.

I didn?t know about form I 865 until I read about it on this thread. The entire process is just tiring. Changing an address shouldn?t be this difficult.

Hi Guys! I am debating either move or not to another city. My PD is 10/16/17 (Memphis, TN) and we are waiting for an interview notice. I am thinking it should come in July-September, but maybe later - who knows. We don't like the apartment we live at and we do want to move to another city. Our lease contract is till 7/6/18. Is changing address that bad or is it just filing AR-11 for each form we send in and filing form if sponsor-my husband moves too? Once changed the address, did you have any problems?
Do you guys think you would have rather sign a month-to-month lease for 2-3 months for extra cost or would you move with your life without that big of dependency on this process? It just not cool we are supposed to be limited by all these issues of the AOS process...
