  • F1 on OPT filing for AOS. Filing the I-765. Is there a Fee or not?

I'm an F1 Student on OPT which means I have an EAD card but now as I marry a US citizen, I'll apply for AOS. On the instructions for the i-765 it says that my category (c)(9) does not pay for the fee but it says it under renewals and mine is not since it's a new EAD under a different status. So do I pay the fee or not?

We cannot afford a lawyer so we appreciate any help

    It's free.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

I was also F1 on OPT and marked as EAD renewal. Filing for EAD/AP card is free, but I if I am remembering correctly it is free as soon as you file together with I-485. Don't take my word for it. =)
