  • Married to a USA Citizen

    Hello all.

I arrived Montana on Feb 18, 2018 to visit my boyfriend with my tourist visa (the visa admit until date is Aug 16, 2018).
my boyfriend proposed to me on Apr 1, 2018. We got married on Apr 18, 2018.

Now i decided stay in the USA (not going back to Hong Kong), so i need to do the immigration (get the Green card).

We wanted to know what's the procedure and which forms we need to file?
we go on the uscis website saw a few forms but we are not sure which is the right one / exact one we need to file first.

Hope you can give us information on this.

    Thank you in advance!

You need to file forms; i-130, i-130A, i-485, & i-864. Those are the forms needed. Now, if u would like to work or travel while your i-485(Adjustment Of Status) is pending then you file i-764 and i-131 along with the package. Those two additional forms are free when u file with the i-485.

Now, you would have to pay $1225 for the i-485 form(this includes the biometrics fees of $85) and $535 for the i-130 form, that's a total of $1760.

Each form has instructions to download so u can follow the instructions on how to fill them out. Good luck and congrats on the wedding!😇

The from is actually I-765, not 764. There are a lot of documents to collect including birth certificate, tax return, proof of your relationship etc. It's a long process, it took me personally 5 months, hopefully for you will be much faster. Good luck and check the forum over and over again, you will have answers to a lot of questions that will cross your mind.

Hey, Me and my husband got married in November 2017 and filled for his GC in January 2018 Im a USC our PD Is 01/19/2018 and we just completed our interview April 24,2018 and our officer said that he?s going to recommend our case to be approved so we are currently waiting for his GC. our process went by really fast you can say we are very lucky but my greatest advice to you is to get an affordable lawyer who knows his **** because if you do it on your own you don?t want to risk messing up and having to go back and forth with uscis it will prolong your case. So just do everything right the first time. We paid our lawyer about 1300 and paid the processing fees which was about 1800 and now we got approved 4 months later. Good luck
