  • I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence

    Hi guys,

Need your help. My friend filed a petition to remove conditions on his residence and on November 8th of 2017 he received a letter from USCIS stating that his conditions were successfully removed and that he should be receiving his 10 year green card within the next 60 days. However, during the 60 days he had to move and inadvertently provided the USCIS with the PO Box instead of a physical address. A few days later he received a notice requesting a physical address. He then provided a physical address as requested. He's pretty sure all this happened within the 60 days of "notice of removal of conditions" letter.

Now here comes the interesting part. Last week he went online to check the status of his case and there was a note dated April 12th 2018, stating that his I-751 application got transferred to the local office. Needless to say, his physical green card never arrived and it's almost the end of April. The 60 day mark passed in early January so it's way past the 60 day deadline.

My question to you guys is what does that mean? I mean his request for the removal of the conditional basis of his permanent resident status has already been approved (he has a letter stating that), and yet there's this online note about I-751 application being transferred to the local office.

If anyone can please shine some light on this I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you much.
