  • Asylum Based I-485 Case Was Received at Local Office

    Hi all,

My asylum-based I-485 has an update of status on the USCIS website today, and it says that my case was received at my local office. However, I am the primary applicant of asylum and it is my impression that interviews are not usually required for primary asylees. What does it mean that my case was received at local office? Anyone has similar experience? Thanks guys!

Seems like I'm in the same boat, mine was transferred to my local office from TSC, I asked lawyers and people in the immigration business, it doesn't necessarily mean you will have an interview. You never know there might be an interview but it might also mean the service centers are all busy and trying to load off some of the applications to the local office. Anyways we will see what it means. If you have any updates please share here.

I have the same update 2 months ago that my case was received by the local office. my filing date was 10/23/2017 and it has been almost 10 months since case was pending at NSC. Anybody have a update after case was transferred to local office? mine is NYC filed office.
