  • Please help!!!

I called uscis to speak with a tier 2 officer. I wanted to raise a service request for my EAD (please see signature for timeline). The customer care rep asked me some questions and said he had raised the service request. He also gave me a referral number. I was never transferred to any Level 2 officer.

After the call, my case status had an update which said a "case inquiry" was made but it wasn't assigned. Did I do the right thing? Is that a service request?

Keep calling! Also, you can email.. the address is usually something like [email protected] / [email protected]. I called about 4 times and eventually got up to a Level 3 officer, then called back a few days later and told the Level 1 that the Level 3 had said there would be an update by then (he did say that, was not making it up, but he probably just said it to get me off the phone), and then emailed a day later. Next day I checked and saw that the SR had been completed (eGov). Two days after that, got the alert that status had changed & card was being produced. All this took about a week total (excluding weekend), after sending supporting docs.

I know someone else who took the liberty of sending supporting docs after an SR without a specific request from USCIS, called about 6 times, and the process took two weeks but she got hers as well, a couple days after emailing. Maybe email is the trick?

Also, sometimes when I call USCIS, if I get a person who sounds mean, I just hang up and call back and tell the next person I got disconnected. ?\_(ツ)_/?

Why exactly are you inquiring on your case?
The USCIS website clearly says you can inquire about a I-765 case if they received your case before Dec 8th 2017 ( as of today).
Since this isn't even close to your date, you just have to have some patience.

Thank you haha. I'll look into this. I just wanted to be sure I raised a service request the right way. I will try the email route if I don't hear anything from them in a week or two. Thanks once again.

To be honest, I inquired because it was taking too long. The processing times say cases are judged between 2.5 months (50% of cases, especially those without RFEs and other issues) and 5 months. I submitted a properly filled application and got NO RFEs, (God, I even did my medicals and paid close to $600 for it, taking vaccines, tests and the likes). He asked me this during the conversation (If I ever got any RFEs or any other thing from them since I filed) so I feel like my case should have been processed earlier than now or at least to get an RFE if something is wrong.

I am a patient person but in this case, my file could just be ignored somewhere so I hope inquiry would trigger some form of action on my case. I didn't do anything illegal by asking. It's just hope.

yes between 2,5 and 5 months.. just because you haven't received any RFE's yet, doesn't mean you're in the 2,5 months category.
Your inquiry will be useless since your date hasn't passed the 5 month mark yet. Trust me I'm speaking from experience.

That's sad. It could be useless but I could only hope. The logic behind the inquiry was to hope someone with access to more info pulls up my application and sees what's really going on. 50-50 chance of them doing something about it. It's been 4 months, nothing to lose. Thanks though. The wait is just frustrating.

                Mine currently just says:

On May 3, 2018, we sent a response to your request to have your case expedited, referral number YYYY .

Just so youre aware, people are getting RFE's after silly amounts of time right now. We got our first one 170 days after filing.

I received those three updates twice.

First when the request was made. The same 3 updates you got.
Then when they accepted the request to expedite. Repeat of the same three updates.

                    and finally got ead approval.

                    It is a standard thing.

That sucks! It must have been horrible waiting that long for just the EAD. I've been sitting at home for months, doing nothing. I'm losing my mind lol.

                              Update:
I don't know what worked. whether the SR I raised or maybe it was just time, but I received an email last week that my EAD was approved and card is being produced. It still says SR is unassigned but IDC right now. as long as I get the EAD, I'll take it. Thanks for your contributions. xoxo
