I filed my I485 (EB1AI) in Jan 2018 and received my combo EAD/AP 2 weeks back. Now waiting for the interview to be scheduled. I received a traffic violation yesterday and i am anxious to know if this will have any impact in my GC process.
I was pulled over by New York City traffic cop for running a red light yesterday in NYC. I passed while it was turning yellow but the cop mentioned that i did not clear the full intersection when it turned red on other side light (its a two way road- so i passed while it was yellow on one side but turned red while on the other side light). I am 80% sure that my car cleared it. However the cop pulled me only in the next light which was about 500 feet away. He wasn't behind me so I assume that he might have been waiting on the road side curb. This is my first violation in NYC since coming to US. Since it is a traffic infraction it carries 3 points and fine of $300+. I am thinking about fighting in the court with traffic attorney but wanted to make sure that in case if i am found guilty will it have any impact on my background check ultimately during my GC interview in the future? Hope to hear suggestions from you friends. Thnx in advance.
