The automatic extension is for certain categories only. Only receipt of the extension is needed to confirm the extension, so if you apply 6 months before you just keep the receipt got back not actual approval later on.

For OPT/F1 etc...you are changing your class of EAD and no longer have the same status. You would do your i485 application with i131 and i765 together. You would wait to do your biometrics then 2 weeks after you would start the expedite process. Successful expedite would need proof of the current income the job is getting you and a letter from employer if you do not get the EAD you will have to be let go from current role.

My OPT F-1 EAD will expire on 08/15 this year and I have a pending AoS. I just don't know how to expedite it? Could you explain/give more details about how to do so?
Please inform your employer very likely you will need to take time off as your EAD is on near impossible timeline. Then also ask them to prepare a letter of financial loss to them. Then do your bios on the 2nd, then congressman office your best bet. Very likely you will have to stop working on 15th and could get it near end of August.

Yup, and should do it now to avoid the hassle later.

Quite a few people have reported that shortly after USCIS received their EAD renewal application, they got the "interview scheduled" status update.

Yes once you have biometrics complete. Did you employer agree to write a financial loss letter?

Not yet, but I will talk with my boss today to see if she can do that. I don't play a big role in the company since I just graduated last year, not sure if it's gonna profit them much if they do it for me..

Well you cannot work there after Aug15, so maybe they will care. If no expedite you prolly cant work again in 2018. Expediting without a letter from them could be hard but still possible, just need a cover letter and lots of proofs.

The letter does not have to state you are their best asset or running up for the Chief Financial Officer position.

It simply needs to state that your EAD expires on 08-15-18, and that proof of employment authorization is needed by then for you to continue working. That's it. If your boss won't do it, then go to HR. It should be on letterhead though.
Then you can spice it up by showing a depleting bank account, and you can also reach out to your Senator and have them inquire, once you place your request to expedite.

EAD renewal.... AUTOMATIC 180 DAY EXTENSION

My EAD expires March 2019. I intend to file for renewal 1st week of October 2018.

under the c9 category, does the automatic 180 day extension start counting from when the application was received, or from when the EAD expires (which is in March 2019) ?

"reach out to your Senator and have them inquire, once you place your request to expedite" <= this part right here is a brand new world for me. I'm impressed. Like I came from a small country so I don't really know how the government works in the States.

So please explain it to me like I'm 5.
First thing first, I will have to:

-Gather a document (on letterhead) stating that my EAD expires on 08-15-18, my employer needs proof of employment authorization so that I can continue working
                            - My previous i765 rejection notice, showing them that I sent it along with my I-485 so they actually made a mistake rejecting case for the wrong fee.
                            - Bank statement showing how desperate, poor I will be if I will be laid off. (lol) - I have a medical bill of 6k, should I include there too?
                            - Any other documents I need to provide?

After that, where should I send those documents to? Congressman or USCIS? Should I write a cover letter attached with everything, asking to expedite the case?

Thank you so much and sorry for asking too much..

https://www.booker.senate.gov/?p=agency_assistance ...the man himself... if you dont know about Cory...I suggest you google some things first you basically are lucky enough to be represented by the most vocal Senator on legal immigration.

PS, Your spouse should be helping with all this they should know how their government works. Also spouse will need to sign off one some things and its always more effective that the spouse truly directly talk to the represenatives. I am pretty sure they voted for Cory.

LOL, I prefer to Sesame Street that way there is no misunderstanding.

                                1. First, you need to place the request to expedite based on:
                                a. interruption of employment (letter from employer)
                                b. severe financial hardship (Bank statements with depleting funds)
                                c. USCIS error - application was erroneously rejected which delayed processing. (Show the letter of rejection)

Requesting to expedite typically involves speaking to a Tier 2 customer service rep. They will likely tell you to expect a letter asking you for evidence which includes a fax number. Gently nip that Waltz in the bud. You don't need to wait for the letter. The fact that they sometimes choose to mail the letter instead of emailing is irritating. Just ask for the fax number and an alternate fax number. You should also ask for the address to mail it, too. The fax machine does not always work. -I wish I were kidding.

As soon as you place the request to expedite, you will see on your egov account a confirmation number for the request. It will say something like "Your request to expedite WKD123456789MSC has not been assigned to an officer for response".

Insist that this is very urgent and ALSO insist they place the request for both the I-765 (EAD) & I-131 (AP). You will only provide evidence for the EAD but they really should be approving combo cards. It's the whole point of the combo card. Insist on getting a confirmation number for each request to expedite. In other words, you will walk away from the call with 2 confirmation numbers. That way when your request is approved.

                                2. Just a letter on company letterhead that confirms you are employed there, since when and needs to state your EAD expires on 08-15-18, and that proof of employment authorization is needed by then for you to continue working. Do not overthink it. It does not have to be anything fancy. Just facts. Your boss may not even be aware that your EAD will expire soon. So maybe inform your boss of the situation and still inform HR. The letter should include a contact person in case USCIS wants to verify the info. However, if you just send them all your paystubs, they will be less likely to waste precious time verifying the info. Paystubs will corroborate that you have been working there.

                                3. Link to find senator https://www.senate.gov/senators/contact
You want to reach out to someone who is pro-immigration and a democrat. In your case, it would be OK to reach out to a republican who is pro legal immigration. The rationale behind that - Your F1 status is still valid. And you want to play by the rules.

Your letter should be addressed To The Honorable Senator Joseph Smith. You should close it with "very respectfully".
You will share that you placed a request to expedite your I-765/I-131, mention the reasons and the evidence provided for each reason. Ask them to please inquire on your behalf and help you expedite. Technically, Senators do not have a say on whether the request gets approved or not. It DOES help to have a senator inquire. Someone will physically pull your application and examine it. It will be worked on.

You have to fill out a privacy act release form. The Senator may have a form that is specific to immigration. I would call the Senator's office and ask for the immigration caseworker's email. Briefly tell them the nature of the request and send it. I would cc myself to make sure the email went out. Call to make sure they got it.
