Trying AOS under 245-I but lacking of enough evidence!!!

I?m also trying to get the approval letter copy for a petition that my stepdad filed on my behalf back in 1995 so I can use it for grandfathering purposes under 245-I and adjust my legal status here in the US. After filing a foia with USCIS, unfortunately, they were unable to find any record of that petition.
I only have a letter that my mom received from NVC with case # assigned in it. NOT SURE IF THIS WOULD BE ENOUGH EVIDENCE to be submitted to the Immigration office in the interview day for adjustment of status so I?m afraid my I-485 application would be denied. PLEASE ANY ADVISE!!!!

You don't need the approval. You just need the receipt that says it was filed.
