  • I-485 interview......plz help..!!

    Hello,
I have an I-485 interview coming in 2 weeks and if anyone knows the standard procedure at the interview, please let me know.
My specific question is, what happens after the interview??
Will i know if i cleared the interview right away or do I have to wait.
If the interview is cleared right away, when will be the time to get the passport stamped?
I really need to know this, as I have a very good job waiting and I need to tell my employer when will I be able to start working. ( my work permit application I-765 may take longer than few weeks.......so I am trying to find out if my I-485 approval will let me work)
    Please help....!!
    Thank you.

    prepare

Be prepared, take your lawyer. They know everything so dont try to hide illegal info about entry or any deportation or any other info.

I am not sure my case will help you in the sense of interview itself coz my I-485 is based on marriage. I just did interview 3 weeks ago. I don't know if they hv standard procedure. But what they did on me was pretty simple. Ask same set of questions on me and my wife seperately about our marriage, such as where, when and how you met each other, where was the wedding, how many people were there blablabla..... the whole procedure only took 20 minutes.

Yes, they did tell you if you pass the interview or not. but one thing I can sure they won't give you the stamp right away. The interviewer told me they don't do that anymore. The reason is the background checking. most people are not clear yet when they are doing interview. so you might have to wait some time for the card until your background checking is clear.

My suggestion on the interview: relax, bring your support documents as many as you and in good order. answer the questions honestly. If you have lawyer, good to bring him in. I didn't have one for myself.

      Good luck!

Posted my entire adj of status (family based) experience including the interview at: http://www.immihelp.com/experience/r....do?category=3.

Scrolled down to the story titled "Pleasant adj of status (family based) experience". The passport was stamped at the interview and greencard arrived 2-3 weeks later.

          After I485 Interview...

I am here on a B1 visitor visa and married my US Citizen Wife. We went to the I485 interview at the Baltimore Immigration office yesterday and it went very well. The interviewer was very nice. She took my I-94 form after the interview and told me that I will hear from the USCIS in the mail soon...I am confused. She did not stamp in my passport. Is there a problem or not? What do I really expect?
