Oct 11, 2018 - Interview in San Diego CA Field office

Here are some highlight document and evidence we sent

        1. We provided the medical exam when we first submitted for our case.
        2. Provided evidence of photos (family photo, vacation photo, photo with friends, wedding photo), joint bank accounts, utilities bills, lease agreement, insurance beneficiary.
        3. IRS Tax Transcript for 3 years

        Here are some tips

        1. Make sure you receive the notification mail for every activities that you are suppose to, if not call the USCIS customer service to ensure everything is okay.
        2. When you contact the USCIS customer service, try to get as much information from them as possible. (Exp. What is the current expected processing time, have an officer opened the case and reviewed?, What is the current EAD card timeline)
        3. EAD card processing time is now 180 days, you can file a claim after 180 days vs 90 days in the past. We learned that after talking to customer service
        4. We realized that the interview date is really based on your field office. We were lucky that San Diego does not have a long line and we really think that is the main reason we got our green card so fast. I see a lot of people from Portland get their green card faster than for example, San Francisco, LA, New York etc.)
        5. During the interview, officer will interview you in 2 parts
        1. ensure the application they have on hand is up to date, they will ask you question on your address, phone #, current occupation for petitioner, beneficiary yes, no
        question on the I-485 application.
        2. how did we meet, when did we go on our first date, when did we become romantic, what is your wife's birthday, phone number, have you meet each others parents
etc. the best way to do this is to show photos of dates, vacation, time with family

        6. Bring as much photo as possible for evidence, if you do not have many now, try to take more photos for the interview.
        7. The officer will run a background check for the beneficiary, once it comes back clean, they will approve for 2 year green card.

        Hope this helps!

                  Thanks id2018 for prompt response.

I'm also married to LPR and my EAD is just approved, my EB2 PD is too far to wait.
My 485 PD is June25th 2018, i see a lot of cases where the field office processing times are way to back but some of them are already scheduled for an interview.

i tried to connect the dot but no clue how it works... Here is an example from "one of the April filers(kkells) who just got her GC from K1 dependent", she even moved from MN state(14 months) to the Boston(8 months) and i checked both the states field offices processing times and none of them are anywhere close to her PD. Icing on the cake she moved to Boston state while the interview was scheduled when she was in MN which is at snail pace more than an Year backlog. So i tried connecting the dots but it seems like a black hole. Cracking a puzzle is always satisfying, but this one is never ending.

Wishing us good luck and keep us posted on your interview dates.

True, I dont have any idea when thr interview will be scheduled. I needed my EAD first for a better job..I am currently on H1. And will be going on my maternity leave from tomorrow. So EAD will help me with a better job with better insurance :-) I will try to be patient about the interview. I am not expecting anything in 2018 though. Hope to get it soon atleast by Feb 2019 going by DC timelines.

Here's what I've gone through thus far:
GC through marriage to USC (same sex)
                          PD 5/24/18 -- I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765 received. (sent to NBC)
                          5/29/18 -- 797C notices arrived for all
                          6/19/18 -- Biometrics done
6/28/18 -- I-485 is ready to be scheduled for interview
10/9/18 -- EAD approved (got text/email, also status changed on website)
10/13/18 -- received EAD in mail along with 797 notices of approval of EAD and I-131 (oddly, I-131 status on website still shows just "received")
Going from online info, my field office (Salt Lake City, UT) is taking anywhere from 11 to 23 months to process I-485, so I will likely not hear anything until next year sometime.

There is no causal relationship or correlation between the EAD/AP and the interview. They're processed on different factory lines. Sometimes people are scheduled for interview and never even get their EAD/AP. The NBC also tries to focus on processing EADs of folks who have a long wait ahead of them for the interview.
