  • RFIE after 4.5 months. Starting all over again.

So my PD date is/was Dec 2017.
In mid April I received a RFIE for birth certificate that I did send in the original package.
They received it early this month and now the PD is when they received my response.
Anyone have any experience with this? If it starts all over my EAD timeline will be 10-11months

I have seen cases on here where they replied to the RFIE and USCIS approved them for the EAD a few weeks after they received the response.

No. You will get in couple of weeks. I see RFE as a good thing as someone is checking your case.

So I got a hold of my congressman 2 weeks ago since I thought it was past the 5month mark and I made a SR but nothing happened.
Today I received an email from congressman saying that USCIS informed them that it is in the normal timeframe since a RFIE starts your case all over.

There is a difference between RFE and RFIE.

          RFIE - restarts processing time.
          RFE - Tolls processing time.

What a mess, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I don't know anything about getting a new PD or whether things are reset. However, I have just seen that the official processing times for EADs have gone up from 2.5-5 months to 4-6 months. They just keep on moving those goalposts.
