  • Time from interview to receiving GC?

    Hi all,

My husband and I had our AOS interview at the Chicago Office on May 15th. We weren't approved on the spot, and he hasn't received any correspondence since -- no notifications, no request for additional info, nothing. Our tracking number isn't working, and each time we call to get more info or speak to a level 2 officer, we get no where. We have also had no movement w/ the AP or EAD, which we expected after receiving the interview notice.

    - How long after your interview did it take to receive your green card?

    - Has any one else had issues with their tracking number after the AOS interview? Were you able to get any updates?

I know we are lucky to have gotten the interview so soon, but feeling helpless and in limbo is getting to me.

Thanks, everyone. Best of luck to you all.

    ----------
Arrived in US on K1 Visa: 12/20/2017
Concurrent AP, EAD, AOS PD: 2/9/2018
    Biometrics: 3/15/18 (Chicago)
    Interview Date: 5/15/2018 (Chicago)

    I would be worried, too.

May we know what was transpired during the interview? Did the IO told you something about the review re your application on his side? IOs should tell you a timeline like 60 to 90 days to wait.

I was approved on the spot. 6 days after, i got my GC already. All my case numbers were not updated (biometrics to interview), i just received letters. 131 and 485 was updated only after the interview.

The interview was pretty intimidating; IO was pretty serious and seemed skeptical, which made us nervous. I had compiled tons of evidence that she didn't even ask for, and at the end I asked her if she wanted it, and she responded, "Sure. I guess I can add it to your file." At the end of the interview, she said that the case was still pending, and that we would receive the GC 4-6 after it is approved, but that it could take up to 120 days.

When we applied back in Feb 2018, we thought we would get the EAD/AP well before we even had the GC interview. Under normal circumstances, that would be fine, but we are scheduled to leave for our symbolic wedding ceremony with his family in the UK on 6/9, but it seems unlikely that that will happen now. We mentioned this in the interview and provided a lot of wedding ceremony evidence w/ dates, but the IO had no reaction.

I feel your frustrations. I was interviewed in Chicago, too. It was in the first office on the left - left door facing the waiting area. My IO was very accommodating and pleasant.

You can make an InfoPass to know the status for both. For the EA and EAD, you can make a follow-up also thru SR as they are on different office. I believe they will process your combo card noting that GC is still pending and its on the 4th month mark already.

We are on the range of our application but i did not receive my EAD/AP as i got my GC already.

        Good luck.

Why do you think she was sceptical? Is there a huge age gap between you and your husband?

No, only three years. I'm not sure if she was skeptical or I am just being paranoid, but she rolled her eyes a couple of times during some of our responses about how we meet (we met while I have traveling). She was also shocked when we said no one came to our courthouse wedding, although we explained that we are having a traditional symbolic wedding ceremony this summer with family and friends.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We are going to try to make an InfoPass appointment (for some reason, no times/dates are cropping up today). Hopefully we will be able to talk with someone soon.

Did you have your interview recently? Congrats on getting your GC!

I mean no one came to our courthouse wedding either. It was just me, my husband and my 8 year old son. We could only get a Friday appointment with the judge that married us and everyone else was at work. I haven?t heard an interview yet though. Maybe she was in a bad mood and took it out on you guys.

I didn't think it was a big deal that it was just us at our courthouse wedding either; I feel like that is a pretty common thing. Tt was only her reaction to it that worried us. You're right -- maybe she was just in a mood and having a bad day.

GL with your case! I hope you get your interview soon and that is goes well for you.

I had my interview last May 7th. My PD was Jan 29th.
