as cali said, none of what you mentioned implies discrimination, just that USCIS was more than likely backed up like always and the senator got involved and got em back in gear. they probably all gave you different reasons because communication between departments is ridiculously horrible. stop acting like everyone is a racist because it took a long time and be happy you finally have an interview scheduled.
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

I have not followed everything that has been said on this thread. I do want to clarify that USCIS decides what you may or may not know. Yes, the Senator's staff will inquire and they will get the true status of your case and the reason for a delay. HOWEVER, USCIS will also tell the Senator's staff whether you may or may not know that. I have read a couple of Congressional Casework manuals for interns and that's what the manuals state. They may only tell you what USCIS says it is OK to tell you.

What you can do is ask the Senator's staff IF USCIS provided them with information you may not have access to. They will say yes or no to do that because there is no harm in saying yes or no.

Last but not least, a lot of offices in California experienced the system glitch and skipped 2017 cases and started processing cases filed in 2018. All those green cards that you see were processed in 90 days or less are a result of the glitch. Forum members stopped reporting their interviews as "employment based" and all you read is "my interview was scheduled". People also stopped calling USCIS frantically asking why the interview was "employment-based" if they had applied for marriage based AOS. USCIS cancelled many interviews of people who called. Word got around fast that they should just keep their mouths shut and simply show up to the interview and play dumb. USCIS honored the interview appointments of people who did just that. People realized they got lucky at the expense of others experiencing extended processing times.

So that's that. Congrats to everyone who got the glitch. It did mess up a lot of folks though.

Well, if that makes you feel better, I'm white, European, and just as frustrated with USCIS as you are. Waiting for EAD card for 10 months already (which normally takes ~3-5), and not even thinking about getting GC interview any time soon

I wish I could say it is discrimination, truly not a super tough thing to fix. But in reality myself and many others have given our data to the USA for years and applied to other visas and see the exact same treatment and timelines. So the background checks were done rather fast. But it is clear its SHEER imcomptence since everytime I get a different or half arsed answer. Most of the time USCIS employees just say what is on the website to make you go away only if they care or feel like it will they go the extra mile. The reality is a large part of the process is them randomly picking a pile of files whenever and working on them, and for whatever reason they move the pile around from time to time. It's basically a lottery unless you case is complicated. I do not think anyone actually sits and perfectly aligns the files by priority dates or any process.

So again it seems like the information you got was typical USCIS random mambo jumbo. Actually reading from people's experiences before this administration apparently USCIS sent random RFEs and interview schedules at certain offices all the time. So this is a systemic issue for years.

No pun intended. Was trying to make a joke but it sounded a lot better in my head. Now my husband is from Malaysia. I do wonder if that has anything to do with USCIS ignoring our request to expedite.
