  • Husband currently on L1A

    Hi,

My husband has just been granted an extension of his L1A visa (I am on an L2), we are currently living in the US and will have been here for 5yrs when this current extension expires. We are hoping to get a green card after this two year extension is up, but I am confused as to how to go about it. Does his company have to apply for the petition for a green card? Also, will I be required to apply separately or will I be issued a ?spouse? green card?

your husband can get an employment sponsored greencard or a greencard through marriage.
If his work is willing, then let them do this as they would have to pay for it and get a lawyer to go through things.
If his work is not (like mine was) then you will have to go through the marriage route (c9).
There's a few topics on this forum that will guide you through things.
This is my opinion, not legal advice!

Neither of us are US citizens so we are unable to apply for a green card through marriage.
