    If there is no cap on the amount of visa's given to an immediate relative of a U.S. Citizen, why is the wait so long?
    3/21/18 - file (I-765, I-485, I-130) received by NBC
    4/2/18 - Received 3 receipts for 3 cases
    4/2/18 - Received biometrics appointment
    4/27/18 - biometrics complete
    7/6/18 - I-485 Ready to be scheduled for interview
    8/10/18 - EAD in Production
    8/13/18 - "We approved your case" I765
    8/16/18 - We mailed your card to you

    Because of how many people apply in that category. I am sure someone can provide you statistics. There may be no cap on the visa number for this category, but there are only a finite amount of humans dealing with each case.

    In regards to interview wait times, some field offices have thousands more cases than others, due to their position in a high immigrant state for example.

      I know that it may seem like there is no point in being in the Immediate Relative category. But there are several advantages. There is no cap on the number of visas. If you've worked illegally, that's forgiven. If there is an overstay, that's forgiven to an extent. You also get to adjust status. No other category offers that perk.

      Processing times do vary from field office to field office. Moving to a jurisdiction with a faster Field Office, is absolutely worth it, if that's an option for you. Things have also gotten slower because employment based AOS cases are required to have an interview. If it's a family, the interview may or may not take place at the same time for all family members. So that's a wrench right there. Then relatives of asylees seeking family reunification must have an interview, too. All thanks to Mr. Trump. And it is only going to get worse because they won't hire more ISO or adjudicators. So if you voted for Mr. T...
