Hi All,
I hope I can take advantage of your combined knowledge. I am a USC filing for my spouse. Our PD is 2/20/2018 and so far we have received the EAD and nothing else. Status shows "Reviewed Biometrics And Are Still Processing Your Case", since 4/4/2018.
When we applied, I was finishing grad school & spouse was OPT. So, since my income did not reach the 125% threshold, we used his (as the intending immigrant spouse & we live together blah blah blah). Now, under the regulations, this should be fine. But I have been hearing a lot that USCIS will still ask for a co-sponsor if the sponsor's own income is not enough, even if the intending immigrant's income is well beyond the 125%, which is our case.
We submitted his taxes for the past 3 years, a letter stating his salary, and a letter confirming that he would continue to be employed at the same place after he receives his GC.
We have not received any RFE so far, nor a rejection or NOID.
My question is - how long does it normally take for USCIS to request a co-sponsor?? It has been months since we filed & they approved his EAD. Is this a good sign? Or have people been asked for co-sponsors way later? I thought we would get a notice for a co-sponsor in the first few months.
Finding a co-sponsor won't be an issue, but my worry is that we will be really delayed if they don't ask until way down the line. I don't want to hit October and find out that we need one! Should I prepare one now?? Should I just send it in as a supplement? Would it help or hurt?
If you have any experience with this, please share!
