today without expedited request i received a notification for form I-765: New card is being produced as of September 19 2018
Field office NYC
USC Marriage-based case

EAD in hand on 09/10 but haven't heard anything about I-131

Thanks to USCFFS, I've learned that I could expedite my case and was able to go back to work today! (I stopped working on 08/14 because my old EAD expired 08/15). I got my new EAD in hand on 09/10 and was able to just continue to work for my old employer. The thing is, when I called to expedite, I clearly stated Combo card but it seemed that they only got me 1 referral ID for my I-765. My bad that I didn't double check again. The information I faxed out mentioned about both of my I-765 and I-131. I also called to make an expedite request for my i-131 again before my I-765 got any new updates on it. I also called to make sure they received all of my information and was told that the new crd that comes in might be a combo card.
It was 3 weeks ago for my i-131 and so far there was no updates, only get RFE that I need to update my new address, which I did. Should I call them again to see what's happening here?

Well, congrats!!! I am so happy that you were able to get back to work promptly. And you are welcome! Thank you for sharing your experience. It's just unfortunate that USCIS is creating more work for themselves. It's not surprising but it is unfortunate. To anyone reading this, you are better off requesting to expedite both. Make sure that you get a referral ID for the I-765 and ANOTHER ONE for the I-131. Some of the adjudicators have tunnel vision.

At this point, I would reach out to your Senator. After all, they rejected your application in error and now this. You have to be a pest or it will not happen.

I just read a previous post of yours saying your lawyer said there was no way to expedite. I mean... *sigh*.
I would call, and ensure that you place a request to expedite your I-131, and do not hang up until you get a referral ID. Speak to a Level 2. Politely insist to speak to a level 2, You will have to call right at 8am.

The only way to ensure that you get the combo card is by placing a request to expedite both. It took seeing several people only get the EAD to understand that needed to be done. I didn't know either.

2. What is the difference with Level 2 and the person we speak with once we call?

No, it should not delay it. Tell them that you understand that it takes the same background checks to approve both. and that you would like to get the combo card.

USCIS created the combo card to attempt to reduce the administrative burden. BUT of course, it backfired.

The level 1 person might as well be Emma. That person only has access to what you can see online. Same access. I have verified it and stop them every time they want to read the processing times to me and then tell me that the Case inquiry date is the same as the date they are currently processing.

I called USCIS today she would not let me speak to level 2 (lol)... However she told me that the I-131 expedite referral was indeed made together with my I-765. So it is all in one referral (idk if that is true).
I also asked if they had received my fax from last week and she said no... I had to wait 15-30 days to see if they received it...

Also called a US senator to help with my case... not sure if getting multiple sources to help hinders my case or not (I have a congressman who sent an inquiry already and thinking about contacting a second US senator). Please let me know of your experience!

Any chance travel card / combo card would be received by Oct 19th? or no chance at all considering current processing times?

notification date was June 13th (they received the application on June 7th).

I need to travel at the end of October, but not sure if advanced parole will be received.

Call again, and politely tell the level 1 that all level 1s have given you misleading and conflicting information. You understand that the USCIS policy manual states that if a customer requests to escalate the call to level 2, the level 1 must escalate the call. Tell him/her, you appreciate his/her following USCIS policy.
Say it politely, of course.

Is finger review completed and case is ready for interview ? You should see those status for 765 and 485

If so then I think yes most likely you will get before end of October ( just my personal opinion. It?s not legal or uscis opinion) 😀
