Do I need to tell employer that my EAD changed category?

I was on OPT EAD (will expire in 2019). Do I need to tell my employer that now I have a new EAD?
Someone said old EAD will be in valid when You have your new greencard EAD.

I THINK if my OPT EAD going to be invalid , HR should notify me right?

Hi,

Your OPT EAD is still valid till 2019, your AOS EAD does not automatically invalidate it. They just won?t accept extension on the OPT EAD. They are very picky giving dual status these days but you did wait decent amount of time so...still lucky you got both in hand now.

Telling HR is up to you, but any future job probably easiest to use your AOS EAD. AOS one is much easier to renew now that AOS under way.

Whether HR notifies you or not, depends on how sophisticated their software is. Since you are on F-1 OPT, they probably set an end date for you in the system. The I-485 (c)9 category EAD gives you the freedom to work anywhere. It would be a good idea to notify them ASAP; in case they are thinking of keeping you past your OPT's end date.
