  • Expediting Application

    Hello everyone,

Do any of you have any experience or know how the process of expediting an application works? My mom sent her application to AOS through my American stepdad in February 21st. She went to her biometrics appointment in March and has not heard anything since. Last week we found out my grandma (her mom who she hasn't seen in 13 years) has terminal cancer and does not have much time left which is devastating since she is so close to being able to see her again. Do you guys know if there is anything we can do? Thanks so much for the help

You will most likely need a note from the doctor treating your grandma.

I might be wrong, but I think all you need is a travel document, form I-131.

does the grandmother live in or outside of the US? if inside, and you're going the consular processing route, then you'll have to wait till your GC is approved, if GM lives outside the US, listen to what Randomdude says and start gathering evidence and applying for expedition cause it takes a good amount of time.

Search for ?emergency travel? on the USCIS website. All the info is there. You can get a travel document issued the same day if you go to the field office. It costs 500+, (530?).
